A Lesson in Remembering

I have been in South Asia for almost a month. Overall the initial transition was fairly easy. I was so thankful for a tremendous amount of peace from the moment I stepped off the plane. After a week, I moved to DD to do language learning until the end of September. I found our housing to be a little less desirable than first expected (see previous posts for pictures) and the transition here has been a little bumpier.  It is an adjustment learning to live in a different culture and climate (it's pretty warm here and we don't have AC), as well as, learning to live with a complete stranger. This past week I started full-time language learning and, as far as I can tell, it is going pretty well.
I have been getting out in our community every day in the hopes of finding a friend with whom I can practice language and learn more of the culture. Thus far I have not had much luck.  Even more than learning language and culture I really desire to just have a friend. This week I have cried out much to the Father about this. I have asked why He has not brought someone into my path (like I have seen with others here already) and even if He was sure he knew what He was thinking in choosing ME to be here! I have been greatly encouraged through His word and timely emails from friends and family in the last few days.
This morning I was reading in Mark 8 and the Father reminded me again of His faithfulness...

Jesus had just fed the 4000 and not long before this had fed the 5000. The disciples are out on a boat and realized they have forgotten to bring any bread. They immediately began discussing this among themselves (no doubt worrying about what they were going to eat). Not for one second did any of them recall the miraculous provision they had witnessed such a short time before. Jesus then asks them, "do you not remember?"..."do you not understand?"
How much like the disciples I am! So quick to forget and began worrying and wondering.  Over and over again I have seen the Father's provision in my life in so many, many ways. When Jesus asks me if I remember I want to say, YES!
He is faithful. Always.
